About the challenge

Many iconic games of our childhood were hosted on CoolMath games. These games often took interesting mechanics and centered the whole game around it. Take "Run," for example: The creator took the concept of changing gravity and made the whole game around this one concept. Or "Duck Life," where the game is entirely centered around your duck running, swimming and flying.

Get started

Now it's your turn - take a cool, interesting idea and make a simple program around that.

Requirements

What to Build

A simple program which revolves around a cool idea. This does not necessarily have to be a game; if you want to build something else, go for it. It should be clear through your project what the central idea is. It can be something fun or something productive, whatever you wish.

Examples

This is a pretty open-ended hackathon, so here are some sample ideas that fit into what we're looking for:

--Games--

Duck Life: A game about training a duck. Interesting idea: The game is made up of a series of simple minigames

Run: A game where you run as long as you can. Creative mechanic: gravity changes

--Other ideas--

Priority Organizer: A task organizer where you rank all your tasks on multiple factors and a work schedule will be generated to best suit your needs. Central idea: Automated Prioritization

But don't use these, they're just examples. Come up with your own cool ideas!

What to Submit

Submit your finished program and a demo video under 3 minutes showing your project in action

How interesting is the idea which the program is centered around? This will be the main criteria judges will look for.
  • Execution - User Experience and Design
Does the program run smoothly or are there bugs? Does the final product look polished or does it look unfinished?
  • General Effect
Does the central idea come across through the product itself?
